The backbone of all things double action OTF for Microtech Knives is the Ultratech. It all started for them in 1999 with the Microtech Ultratech OTF and they have never looked back. The Ultratech is the first dual action (auto deploy and retract) knife that Microtech produced and it has been one of the biggest sellers for them ever since.
The Ultratech's internal action is very high end and features a spring that remains at rest when the blade is not deployed. This helps to eliminate "spring fatigue" to ensure the spring action lasts for a very long time. This is something Microtech wanted to enlist considering it is one of the more common concerns with a double action out the front knife.
As with all mechanical working parts, things break down and not every knife is going to be perfect but Microtech's quality control has been stellar so your chances are much greater by purchasing one of their OTF autos.
The Microtech Ultratech handle is very slim and lightweight. It is made of anodized aluminum and features a thumb slide on the side of the handle to engage the dual blade action. A pocket clip allows the knife to be EDC ready.
The Ultratech's blade is 3.4" double edge and comes in satin, stonewash, black and bead blast. You can get it in a standard edge, combo or fully serrated blade. The bayonet blade is a huge seller for Microtech (as seen above) and comes in a black/satin finish.
